Meet Mayfairgrin

I met the genius behind these Tao-flowing albums many years ago through mutual friends. We were all performing in the Portland underground way before Portlandia was a thing. Maybe before Underground was a thing. I kid. You'll find them in a variety of projects and monikers but consistently over these many years I've increasingly become a fan.

I hear wilderness patterns in this new album. I won't begin to classify it, as it is multi-genre, but 'wilderness' is a good description. It's an acoustic-electronic mix. Don't get too attached to thinking it's one style, though; these audio treatments morph and change like a micro/macro fractal-note, to song, to album, to discography-like it's one awesome story continually growing and shaping.

Mayfairgrin has a rather extensive back catalog available here, and provides music pay-what-you-can, which is very nice. I haven't heard what's available on Spotify, but it looks like you get way more access on the Bandcamp page (commercial-free). I'll put the Spotify player down below. Here's a sampling of the great visual artwork of the album covers. Follow on Facebook for fantastic visuals and timely updates. An absolute treasure! It's avant-garde, as all great art is, so you might not be ready for it.

74 Accumulation

74 Accumulation

"An opening in the storming sea,
      Gold deposited on bones.
      Once accumulation has begun,
      Take care not to interfere."

You don't get a geomancer/coffin/sea fable every day. For many of us well maybe all of us, we have to practice delaying gratification as it is not our first move. Immediate gratification is how you wind up with a tummy ache or much worse. Knowing one's strengths and weaknesses greatly improves opportunities to delay gratification. A leader does not know how to do all things but they do know how to delegate the work that needs to be done. It seems somewhat odd that doing nothing requires practicing doing nothing.
